Description

Mediatonic is a rapidly evolving independent games development studio focusing on premium web games. Based in the heart of the West End, our experienced team of 20 produce high quality games on a range of platforms from Facebook to the PSP.

Working alongside our illustrators and developers, you will have to produce high quality web designs, game UI designs, online ads and presentations. You will be responsible for the layout, visual appearance and usability of content and designing online communications which carry the brand identities of our games online.

This is a full time paid position based in our London office. It is a placement position for 1 year starting in the Summer of 2010.

Things you'll have to do

- Take an active role in concept brainstorms
- Quick create high quality work for use in pitches and presentations
- Create original design mock-ups based on guidance from senior designers
- Produce variants of designs created by our team or supplied to us by a client
- Look at a design, break it down into it's components and build it into a different form (eg, create a game UI based on a website design).
- Hunt down appropriate stock imagery, icons and fonts for use in your work
- Design and arrange attractive slides for new project pitches

Things that are necessary

- Strong ability in design and able to demonstrate this with a strong portfolio of work
- Experienced working with Photoshop, Illustrator and Flash
- Obsession with quality and keen attention to detail
- Independence and initiative; able to take direction and run with it

Things that are desirable

- Technical experience with Flash and other relevant technologies
- Knowledge of games, how they are made and what makes them fun

Assessment criteria

Candidates will be assessed primarily on the strength of their portfolio and CV. Successful applicants will be invited to an interview at Mediatonic (usually with a Company Director) and on some occasions a second interview will be held before a final decision is made.
